One of the best places to see Wooping Crane.
We go see the birds migrate through every year for almost 10 years now. It is definitely worth the drive. The amount of birds here during December and January is amazing. Everyone comes for the whooping cranes and they are huge. 4 flew over us this time and they were massive. Be prepared not to see any though. They can prove elusive.
It is well maintained and very peaceful. Boardwalk is very cool. There is a small museum and gift shop. If you love birds or just want some great outdoors, go here.
The Wooping Crane is the tallest bird in North America, and is endangered. Few years ago there were only 20 in the wild. Recently with the help of some dedicated people raising them in captivity and then helping them migrate south with a plane their numbers are increasing to the hundreds.
You'll love the quiet and fresh water fishing .The fish were so healthy looking with amazing taste after cooking.
Wow fishing here is like hitting the jackpot. To my amazing viewer's
The observation room and visitor center are the best place to start. The staff were helpful and gave me great maps to the Bat caves. If your hiking in summer watch out for the mosquitoes. They are huge.
I have been going here for over 25 years . Now that I have kids of my own they always enjoy a quick stop or a days adventure here. November to February you'll catch lots of waterfowl action.
